How do I take care of blonde curly hair?
Being blonde and curly are two things that need just that little bit extra attention when it comes to hair care.
Here are our top tips for looking after your colour and curls.
Shampoo sparingly
Over-washing curly hair can strip it of the natural oils you need to keep it healthy, shiny and hydrated. Opt for colour enhancing purple shampoos. Click here to read about our pick of the best.
Condition like crazy
Coloured hair, as well as curl, need extra moisture, so invest in some quality deep conditioner and try and do a hair mask once a week.
Over avoid-styling
Heated styling tools like hairdryers, straighteners and curlers really play havoc with hair, so try to minimise how often you do this, and keep the heat setting low.
How to have a good hair day - every day
How you wash your hair and the kind of products you use and styling you do plays a big part in how healthy it is.
If you want to know the secret of always having a good hair day, read on.
Wash oily hair more frequently
How often you wash your hair should be based on how much oil your scalp produces. So if your scalp is oily, you may need to wash it every day. If you have dyed hair, it may be drier, so you may want to wash it less frequently. As you get older, your scalp makes less oil, so you may not need to shampoo as often. But if you see flakes in your hair, this is a sign that you may not be shampooing enough - and it can lead to dandruff.
Concentrate shampoo on the scalp
When you wash your hair, concentrate on the scalp, rather than washing the whole head, as this can create flyaway hair that is dull and coarse.
Use conditioner after every shampoo
Using conditioner can improve the look of damaged or weathered hair by increasing shine, decreasing static electricity, improving strength and offering some protection from harmful UV rays. Put the conditioner on the tips of the hair. Because conditioners can make fine hair look limp, they only should be used on the ends of the hair - not on the scalp.
Choose a shampoo and conditioner formulated specifically for your hair type
For example, if you color your hair, use a shampoo for color-treated hair. If your hair is damaged or chemically treated, consider a “2-in-1” shampoo. Regardless of cost, many shampoo and conditioner brands provide the same benefits.

Best hair products for shiny healthy hair
January is all about self care and looking after ourselves again after a month of mainlining wine, cheese, chocolate and Christmas dinners.
And what better (and easier) way than to start from the top. We’ve come up with some of the best products out there to give your hair a healthy shine boost. Let us know which ones are your favourites!
How to give your hair a January detox
It’s the new year and everyone is on a diet, detox, Dry January (or all three!).
And it’s not just your body and skin that takes a beating over Christmas and New Year - all that festive drinking can really play havoc with your hair.
In the same way that alcohol consumption dehydrates skin causing spots and break-outs, it also dries out your hair.
Excessive boozing can also trigger a zinc deficiency in the body, which in extreme cases can cause hair loss.
But don’t worry, as we’ve gathered our top expert tips to help you repair and restore your hair. The party may be over, but that doesn’t mean your hair has to suffer.
Drink water
Yeah yeah, we know it’s boring but water really is one of the key ways to keep your body - and therefore you hair - hydrated.
Not only will it have your hair shining and skin sparkling in no time, it’ll help reduce hangover time, too.
Hydrate your hair
Invest in some hydrating shampoo and conditioner like the Matrix Biolage HydraSource range.
As a L’Oreal salon, we stock and sell lots of amazing products including Matrix Biolage.
Ditch the crap
Not an easy request we know, but booze, fags and coffee are all nutrient-poor and damage the hair and body.
Food full of vitamins and minerals support healthy hair. Ot try a hair supplement like Vitabiotics Perfectil.
Get a trim
Cutting off split ends and having a fresh cut can not only make you look and feel great, it gets rid of damage and helps new hair to grow.

Five ways to avoid hat hair this winter
Winter. Not only does it mean colder weather, it plays havoc with your hairstyle!
Follow our five tips for avoiding hat hair this winter.
Make sure your hair is completely dry
It sounds obvious but if you put your hat on wet hair you’re going to create some funky looking new style when you take it off!
Choose your hat carefully
A coarse beanie will frizz up your hair more than a smoother one — which is why cashmere, silk, or angora are the best picks.
Make sure your beanie fits
The tighter the beanie, the worse the hat hair.
Reduce static
Reduce static by making sure your hair is nice and moisturised before throwing on a hat. Cutting back on heat tools helps with this, as does a good hair oil or moisturising cream.
Style your hair pre-hat
Try a low ponytail or loose plaits to minimise the dreaded hat hair.
Miracle moisture makers to restore dry Autumn hair
Central heating, blow-drying and even wearing a hat to keep warm (which can rub against and damage hair fibres) can mean that in Autumn our hair looks and feels more brittle and dry than usual. To counteract this seasonal dilemma, here are our top moisture makers to try today:
