How to protect hair while sleeping

As wonderful as sleeping is, it can play havoc with your hair.

But there are a few things you can do to protect it. Here are our top tips and tricks for protecting your hair while you sleep…

• Use scrunchies over hair bobbles

How to get more volume in your hair

Use a volumising shampoo and conditioner 

Volume starts in the shower (or bath) so find a volumising shampoo and conditioner for your hair type and make it part of your haircare routine.

Avoid putting conditioner on roots

Tempting as it might be to slather conditioner all over our heads, this will actually make your hair look flatter! When you clean your hair with shampoo, your cuticles open up looking for nourishment and moisture, but when you whack loads of conditioner on the scalp (a natural oil source) it will make your roots appear heavy and greasy.

Half-dry your hair upside down

Start off your drying journey with your head flipped upside down - this lifts hair at the root and will rough up your cuticles for maximum volume. When your hair is almost dry, flip back to upright and blow-dry the mid-ends to smooth and soften them.

On top of that, there is a fresh feeling associated with a haircut or a new hairdo. We leave feeling revived and restored, which of course can also contribute to our perceptions of ourself.

How to repair dry hair at home

It’s going to be a hot one this weekend and lovely as the sunshine is, it can really play havoc with your hair.

So, how do you repair dry, sun-damaged hair? Here are our top tips:

Use protection

UV rays can damage your hair as well as your skin. Investing in a hair protector that has UV filters has the same effect as sun cream, shielding the strands from harmful rays (which can break down the structure of your hair as well as fade any colour).

And our team will be doing everything they can to keep you covid-safe. Here are some of the measures we will be taking:

• Please come to your appointment on your own (where possible). We won’t have our usual waiting area inside so you will have to remain outside until your appointment to avoid crowding.

• All our stations and equipment will be sanitised after each use and staff will be wearing full PPE (personal protective equipment). 

• We will ask you when you arrive to your appointment to wear a mask.

Successful first weekend

We’re back!

 The salon is open again and we’ve really enjoyed seeing you all. Things are working a bit differently at the moment, but we hope to be back to normal as soon as possible.

Thanks to all of you for your patience and for choosing us for that all important first haircut after so long!

As we gear up to reopen on Saturday, July 4, we’ve been getting the salon ready to keep you and our employees safe and protected. 

Here’s how it’s going work:

• In keeping with government guidelines, we will be practicing social distancing and asking you guys to use our hand sanitiser facility before you come into the salon. 

• Please come to your appointment on your own (where possible). We won’t have our usual waiting area inside so you will have to remain outside until your appointment to avoid crowding.

• All our stations and equipment will be sanitised after each use and staff will be wearing full PPE (personal protective equipment). 

• We will ask you when you arrive to your appointment to wear a mask.

We appreciate this will all look a bit different and feel a bit strange at first, but we can’t wait to see you again and get your hair looking fab again.
