How to get shiny hair like Kim Kardashian
Regular hair masks
If your hair is healthy, it’ll shine. And while most celebrities like Kim have their hair and make-up done professionally for work, on their days off they rehydrate and repair with a hair mask, says Jen. One of Kardashian's go to's is Carol's Daughter Monoi Hair Mask, which is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants that fortify damaged, chemically-treated hair. Buy it here.
Use a T-shirt to dry hair
"Post shower, instead of drying your hair with a traditional towel, gently squeeze out moisture with an old cotton t-shirt so as not to disturb the cuticle layer of the hair," advises Justine.
Controlled heat styling
If your curler or straighteners are too hot, you will singe the hair which will make it appear dull. Justine says: “When styling, I always use tools that won't damage the hair. GHD's irons are optimised at 365 degrees - the ideal temperature that won't blow open the cuticle layer or cause colour fading."
Sleep on a silk pillowcase
Cotton or polyester pillowcases can absorb moisture and be abrasive to hair. Investing in a silk case will help retain your strands' natural shine - and your hair won't get frizzy overnight, says Justine. It’s a win-win.
Hair oils
Some oils — like the OUAI's signature blend of African galangal, ama, and borage oils — can double as heat protectants when you're using hot styling tools. Justine likes to mix oils together to enhance shine.
Hair supplements
You can stock up on daily supplements packed with ingredients like B-complex vitamins (such as biotin, cobalamin, and niacin) to help restore shine from the inside-out. Try Justine’s go-to OLLY Undeniable Beauty Grapefruit Glam Gummies, which helps to create stronger and shinier hair. Buy it here.
Repair with Olaplex
One of our favourite products for shine especially for those of you that dye your hair. Olaplex repairs the hair structure on a molecular level while it processes. Kim likes to use it as an overnight treatment and puts it in her hair before she goes to sleep.
